The Perfect Jeans for Summer
Finding the perfect pair of jeans is like searching for the holy grail. You know they’re out there and are well worth the hunt if you can find them, but it is a quest.
After spending fall and winter lounging in my cozy boyfriend jeans (similar to these), it was time to explore some summer options.
Catching a Lead on the Perfect Pair
When Jane and I were in Dallas at F.I.G., we were positioned near the booth for Mother jeans. We had never heard of the brand, but Mother’s was by far the most sought after vendor in the place; every buyer, it seemed, was looking for Mother.
So when I got back to Atlanta, I went to the Nordstrom’s at Phipps, wanting to try some on. When I asked the sales clerk where the Mother jeans were stocked, she asked if I meant “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans,” saying she had never heard of Mother. I’ve had some NYDJ jeans. They are perfectly nice jeans, but they definitely are not Mother. At least, however, it was good to know I wasn’t the last person on the planet to discover Mother!
Worth the Hunt
I eventually found a selection of Mother jeans at Ann Mashburn’s Atlanta store. (By the way, if you’re in Atlanta, you should stop in there; if not, check it out online at annmashburn.com). I ended up with Mother’s Insider Crop Step Fray. Pricey, yes, but oh so soft, and the crop adds interest that goes well with flats, heels or espadrilles — and a Hanner Clarke handbag of course.
So, for the moment, my search is over. At least until I start looking for white or bone jeans! More to come!
